Pestana Golf

Located in the heart of the Algarve near the picturesque fishing village of Praia do Carvoeiro, Pestana Golf Resort nestles in 200 hectares of unrivalled beauty. Along with the two superb golf courses, Pestana boasts a David Leadbetter Golf Academy and a plethora of off the course activities. The two courses were designed by Ron Fream of Golfplan USA; the Pinta Course was built first and is the resort's flagship layout but its sister Gramacho Course is a fantastic 6,679 yard track in its own right.

 

Carvoeiro two courses were designed by Ron Fream of Golfplan USA and have been laid out over scenic and undulating terrain amongst olive groves, carob, fig and almond trees (some of which are more than 600 years old).

Pinta Course - Pinta Course opened for play in 1992 it has already earned a reputation for its excellent condition and as a testing layout. Bermuda grass has been imported to make sure that the fairways are always in the finest condition and the well protected Penn Cross Bent greens are excellent. The par 71, 6,728 yard layout is really one for the golf connoisseur with most of the par 4 and par 5s utilising a dogleg, putting a major emphasis on accurate driving. Water hazards also come in to play affecting four holes on the front nine.

 

Gramacho Course - Pinta's sister course, Gramacho, is the second 18 hole championship course located at Carvoeiro Golf Club. It is also one of only a few courses in the world with 18 sets of tees and fairways but has 27 greens. Designed by Ron Fream and the legendary Nick Price, the 6,679 yard course uses existing features of the land such as outcrops of rock, dry stone walls, fig, almond, carob and olive trees, as well as bunkers and lakes. These hazards, combined with the shaping of the fairways and greens, have produced a fantastic selection of challenging but fair golf holes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

David Leadbetter Golf Academy (DLGA)

Pestana Golf Resort also has its very own David Leadbetter golf academy. In establishing DLGA, David has personally selected and trained a team of world class instructors to communicate the Leadbetter philosophy to people of all ages and abilities. The Pestana DGLA faithfully delivers Leadbetter's teaching methods and philosophy, and has evolved as a truly exceptional facility which offers all encompassing golf tuition. Packages range between individual half day lessons right up to 5 day group packages.

 

Vale De Milho

9 Hole Par 3. The Vale de Milho golf course is a scaled down version of a full-sized course. With it`s large contoured greens, tall trees, lakes and sand traps it provides a real challenge whatever standard of golf you play. It is a high quality course designed by Dave Thomas, who designed "The Belfry" the venue for the in 1985, 89, 93 and 2002 Ryder Cup. The course has the ambience of a full-sized course and is maintained to high standards all year round. The Vale de Milho golf course is situated 3 kilometres from the centre of Carvoeiro, on the road to Rocha Brava
